The Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The tendons and nerves in your hand and wrist go through a space known as the carpal tunnel. If you have experienced any pain, numbness, or loss of strength in your hand or wrist then you may be suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome.
Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by a number of factors, most commonly by repeated motion or vibration in the hand or wrist. The repeated motion inflames the tendons in the hand and places pressure on the median nerve located within the carpal tunnel.
Activities that involve heavy use of the hands such as typing, or a lack of breaks and proper stretching during these activities, can cause carpal tunnel syndrome.
