Hand Surgery
Conveniently located to serve Columbus, Lancaster, Pickerington, and Canal Winchester
Although many people think of orthopedists for hand surgery, much of hand surgery falls squarely within the realm of the plastic surgeon. In addition to the bones that orthopedists specialize in, hands are comprised of skin, tendons, nerves and arteries – classic areas for plastic surgeons. In fact, many innovations in hand surgery have come from plastic surgery. For example, complex wounds on the hand require special attention to restoring the skin to maintain normal hand function. Dr. Lichten performs a variety of different hand surgeries including those to repair Dupuytren’s Contracture, skin grafts to repair wounds caused by trauma or skin cancer surgery, and carpal tunnel release.
